Change the only constant
Why learning to trust the flow of change can turn endings into beginnings
This week has been a little crazy in the best way. It reminded me of something I already knew but so often forget. Change is the only constant.
I have said it before and I will keep saying it. We are all creators. The way you choose to look at things, the lens you use, shapes your entire life. Two people can live the exact same moment and walk away with completely different stories. One sees frustration, the other sees beauty. One sees loss, the other sees space being made for something new.
The morning that started this whole train of thought was simple.
I woke up and told myself, today is going to be a good day.
Then I watched a young man pay for an older lady’s coffee and pastry.
It was already a good day.
That is the shift. That is the choice. It is a mindset, and I believe it has a profound impact on your life. When you start deciding how to see, instead of letting the world decide for you, something opens up. I encourage you to try it. The way you choose to look really does change everything.
Right now it is easy to find problems. They are everywhere, conversations often circle back to what is broken. But alongside all of that, joy is also everywhere. Kindness is everywhere. So is laughter, so is sunshine. Early signs of spring are starting to bloom and I make it a point to stop and notice the colours in the flowers. Why? Because it matters. Beauty is not only everywhere, it is also a choice in how we see. Even a cracked wall can be beautiful in the right context.
So why say change is the only constant? Because it is true. Every day is different. Even in the most repetitive routines, change is happening quietly in the background. You are older today than you were yesterday. You have seen something new, heard something new, felt something new. The world is always moving.
As a freelancer no two days ever look the same, and I love that. Variety keeps me alive. But this week brought a change I did not choose. We were told our rented apartment is being sold, which means we need to move. At a time when more than ninety people are turning up to rental viewings, the timing felt less than ideal. For a moment I let myself feel that weight, but then I remembered.
My partner and I have a saying: it just works out. We do not know how, we do not know when, we do not know through who. But it always does. And let me tell you, it truly does.
The very next day we shared what had happened on our story. A friend of a friend reached out to say a place was available at the end of the week. Not only that, but it was available if we wanted it.
A beautiful new apartment in a wonderful area. More natural light than our current place. Right next to a park and a golf course, which I will admit I am very excited about. Change at first felt heavy. Suddenly it felt like a gift.
That is what I mean when I say change really is the only constant. When you choose to meet it with trust instead of fear, it all works out. Because within change lie opportunities. That is where real value lives.
Imagine waking up and living the same week on repeat for your entire life. Some people do. My nan once told me that is not a life, it is an existence. I have carried those words with me ever since.
The truth is change is uncomfortable. If you do want to actively shift something in your life, it is rarely easy. Breaking habits, cycles, and old patterns takes courage. Doing your own thing does not come naturally when you are locked into a schedule with little room to move. And yet sometimes, all it takes is one moment of disruption.
A breakup.
A loss.
A new love.
A holiday that shows you what freedom feels like.
Suddenly the life you thought you wanted no longer fits. You cannot go back to the version of yourself that accepted less. And in that disruption, in that change, a door opens.
Change is not just the only constant, it is also the only guarantee that anything is possible.
The challenge is not avoiding the chaos but learning how to move through it. If you are willing to be creative in the middle of uncertainty, to trust that new life can be built from unfamiliar ground, you will always find possibilities where others only see endings.
Anything is possible if you are open to being creative in the chaos. And how you choose to navigate that chaos will shape your results more than almost anything else in your life.
Embrace change.
Love to all
Adam
As always some new work I liked.
